April 15, 2025

International Coffee Day (ICD) is celebrated annually on October 1st to recognize and promote coffee’s significance worldwide. It has been 10 years since the 1st of October was defined as celebrating International Coffee Day and the upcoming 2025 will be its 11th International Coffee Day. Before International Coffee Day (ICD) was officially established in 2015, many countries already had their own national coffee celebration days, but they were observed on different dates. Some countries marked their coffee organisation’s birthday while others celebrated to highlight the importance of coffee or to congratulate the coffee farmers in their country. Then, the International Coffee Organization (ICO) officially launched the first international coffee day in 2015, unifying various national coffee days celebrated by different countries. The main objectives of International Coffee Day are:

·      To create global awareness

·      To promote sustainable coffee

·      To Supporting Coffee Farmers

·      To promote coffee culture across the globe

·      To Strengthen the Coffee Industry and enhance innovation across the supply chain

Thus, International Coffee Day is a special occasion for coffee, where people celebrate through trade fairs and promote coffee to the public by offering discounted prices or distributing coupons for free coffee. The day is also marked by public awareness campaigns on coffee education, lucky draws and quizzes about the fascinating history of coffee, the presentation of coffee-themed gifts, product showcases, and competitions featuring prominent baristas demonstrating their skills and serving coffee to the public in a fun and engaging way.
